Renamed and Renumbered CS Courses

As you might have noticed, the CS department has renamed and renumbered several core courses. It's part of an effort to improve the organization of our courses and better align with university transfer models and course identification systems. Undoubtedly, this will create some short term confusion amongst students, faculty, and counselors. So, to keep things straight until we get the new names and numbers memorized, here is a table to help clarify the situation:

CS104 - Introduction to Programming
CS105 - Theory and Practice I CS135 - Programming Fundamentals
CS106 - Theory and Practice II CS145 - Introduction to Data Structures
CS107 - Computer Architecture and Organization CS131 - Assembly Language Programming
CS108 - Discrete Structures CS143 - Discrete Math

Stephen Strenn Becomes Department Chair

Assistant Professor Stephen Strenn becomes the Chair of the Computer Science Department and Computer Science Lab Coordinator succeeding the previous Chair Associate professor Jackie Kuehn who was Chair and Lab Coordinator since June 2011. Mr. Strenn assumes the helm starting June 1st, 2013. Congratulations Stephen!

SBCC CS Takes Top Honors at Programming Competition

Congratulations to Santa Barbara City College's two programming teams, SBCC Alpha and SBCC One. The two teams competed in the 2011 Southern California Regionals for the International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC) Saturday November 12 held at Riverside Community College.Read More

SBCC Sends Students to ACM Programming Contest

Microsoft DreamSpark available to CS Students
June 30, 2011
CS students can now sign up to use Microsoft DreamSpark using their pipeline account. To get access to a lot of different Microsoft tools and technologies go to the DreamSpark web site and sign up for an account using your SBCC pipeline email. You then sign in to the site.

Jackie Kuehn Becomes Department Chair

Associate Professor Jackie Kuehn becomes the Chair of the Computer Science Department and Computer Science Lab Coordinator succeeding the previous Chair Dr. Dean Nevins who was Chair and Lab Coordinator since June 2007. Ms. Kuehn assumes the helm starting June 1st, 2011. Congratulations Jackie!
